We love discovering new features and today was one of the best! (we tried to post this blog yesterday but due to Facebooks meltdown we couldn’t get screen grabs!).
You can now schedule posts in Facebook! For years we have been saying don’t schedule posts through a third party provider as Facebook Edgerank penalises these posts, resulting in lower reach.
Well today, that all changed. You can schedule your posts within Facebook with one easy step! But we’ll get to that in a minute. Another neat new feature is the ability to give page admins different levels of access. And soon to come……you can pay a set fee to have your promoted posts show up in Timeline.
All big changes for Facebook, with great benefits for business! Maybe that IPO has had some positive results after all. Nothing like public scrutiny to fast track features that benefit business! So lets go back to the beginning and to the most exciting change to date!
Scheduling Posts on Facebook
In one very easy step, you can now pre-schedule a post on Facebook. It is as simple as this: Craft your post as you usually would. In the bottom left hand corner you will see the little gray clock. Click on that, select the year, month, day and time, and then click Schedule. Simple as that!
Administration Levels on Facebook
Another new feature just launched is the ability to restrict access to admins in terms of what they can and can’t do on an business page.
Go to ‘Edit Page’ and select ‘Admin Levels’. For each administrator you have a drop down menu where you can choose which level you’d like to allocate them.
The levels are:
Manager: can manage admin roles, send messages and create posts as the Page, create ads, and view insights.
Content Creator: can edit the Page, send messages and create posts as the Page, create ads, and view insights.
Moderator: can respond to and delete comments on the Page, send messages as the Page, create ads, and view insights.
Advertiser: can create ads and view insights.
Analyst:can view insights.
Now you have more freedom to manage your page and engage multiple people, whilst still retaining some control over what they do on your page. I would like to see a category that allows someone to post to the Timeline and respond to comments, but nothing else. Hopefully that is still coming.
We are yet to see these showing up on any of the profiles we manage, however they are on their way. Soon you will be able to promote your posts for a fixed fee. You must have more than 400 likes to use this feature and the fixed fee will depend on the reach you wish to generate. Your promoted post will show at the top of people’s newsfeed for a period of time.
Any post that is less than 3 days old can be promoted and once a post has been promoted, you can pause and the re-post again.
Here is some more info on it:
